Overview

The Voice Toolkit allows developers to enable end-users with the ability to record or create dialogue within a web page or application, without requiring a plug-in. The toolkit consists of customizable Flash components and client-side APIs (in ActionScript 3) that allow your developers to enable this functionality without implementing any back-end code.

The Flash components are faceless and allow you to fully configure the UI visible to the end-user.

Core Functionality

Voice-recording services and telephony capability are implemented and executed on the Oddcast server farm, where we have allocated massively-scalable computing capacity capable of serving millions of requests per day. By taking advantage of the economy of scale embodied by our infrastructure, Oddcast is able to offer this functionality as a cloud-computing service at an affordable price.

The Voice Toolkit consists of one or both of the following packages, and it can also include our Text to Speech functionality.

  • Telephony:
    • A Flash-based "faceless" component, to be customized in appearance, that displays:
      • Toll-free number
      • Visual feedback ("recording" or "saving," etc.)
      • Graphics and instructions
    • Allow users to record audio as part of your application by calling the provided toll-free number.
    • Customizable Telephony IVR to guide user through the recording process
    • Users can preview or re-record their audio before submitting
    • Visual and audible feedback on the screen and through the phone
    • User's recorded audio delivered to your application as MP3 via client API
  • Record by Mic:
    • A Flash-based "faceless" component, to be customized in appearance, that displays:
      • User-facing integrated Flash interface providing recording controls
      • On-screen feedback ("recording" or "saving," etc.)
    • Preview audio
    • Save audio
    • User's recorded audio delivered to your application as MP3 via client API
